Back to school at newsXpress Kin Kora

bts10-021.jpgThe team at newsXpress Kin Kora has gone all out for Back to School this year.  Their outpost is bigger and better than ever – 13.5 metre’s long and 2 metre’s wide. They stock the specific requirements of all schools within a 62km radius. They have packed in excess of 800 orders already this year and served many more who select and pick up items themselves.  Moving over close to 2 pallets of stock every day, the newsXpress Kin Kora team is showing what a success Back to School can be.  The photo shows their use of the newsXpress collateral in a quiet time for the outpost.

new moon merchandise in Glendale

img_0016.JPGnewsXpress Glendale is having good success with new moon merchandise sourced through newsXpress preferred suppliers.  The new moon branded calendars, board game, jewellery, posters and trinkets are all selling from the great in-store display.  Even a week after the new Twilight movie opened, new moon merchandise is popular.

The newsXpress merchandise team started work on new moon products many months ago and the latest sales data suggests that their efforts are paying off for newsXpress members.

newsXpress campaign drives traffic

giftmas_catalogue.JPGThe Merry Giftmas campaign launched by newsXpress several weeks ago is driving incremental traffic to participating locations.

We are receiving reports from newsXpress members telling us of new customers coming in with the items they want circled in our catalogue – making for easy sales.

The books in the catalogue are very popular as are the digital photo frames, Twilight merchandise and a range of Kris Kringle gifts.

The catalogue has been sent to thousands of homes around each participating store.

This type of external marketing based around compelling branded offers is key to building traffic, driving brand recognition and extending the efficiency of the shopping basket.  It is another way newsXpress is differentiating its retail channel.

newsXpress Christmas catalogue out now

newsxpress_giftmas.JPGnewsXpress has delivered hundreds of thousands of catalogues to homes around newsXpress locations participating in our Merry Giftmas Christmas promotion.

In addition to catalogues, stores have been provided with A1 double sided colour posters and price tickets – promoting catalogue items.

The range of professional collateral provided by newsXpress is a further example of the care we take to help our members tell a complete story for key seasons such as Christmas.  From the brochure in the letterbox to the price ticket in front of a promotional ietm, the visual connection is consistent and enticing.

newsXpress Pakenham in the news

newsxpress_pakenham.jpgnewsXpress Pakenham made the pages of their local newspaper with a story about a great competition win for a customer.  Melanie Smith won the full Harry Potter chess set valued at $462.  Rowan and Dianne Higgon at newsXpress Pakenham put asise each issue of this special part series over months to create a prize. The competition was run as part of their recent relaunch following considerable modifications to their business. This is excellent business initiative.

Well done newsXpress Pakenham!

Great use of newsXpress collateral

dsc00215.JPGnewsXpress Forest Hill (Victoria) is using the newsXpress supplied calendar posters above their calendar display and diary posters above diary product.  They are great signposts to the appropriate areas of the shop – making it easier for customers on a mission and to divert others who may have visited for another purpose.

newsXpress prints it’s posters in A1 size, in colour and on heavy duty stock.  We understand the value of good quality marketing collateral.  A1 posters for all major seasons and opportunities are provided free of charge to newsXpress members.

We love receiving photos from newsXpress members showing how they have used newsXpress provided marketing collateral.  It is one thing for our creative team to develop the collateral and another entirely to see how it is used in-store.

newsXpress Forest Hill promotes New Moon

fhn_new_moon.JPGnew moon calendars, the new moon board game, magazines and other products are in prime position in this excellent display at newsXpress Forest Hill in Victoria.  Drawing attention to the product display is the A0 poster provided by newsXpress.

Interest in the new moon movie is huge, one only has to see the magazine coverage of the stars and the movie launch.

newsXpress has taken a leadership role in bringing to its members new moon products beyond traditional newsagency items and thereby helped our members achieve more efficient new moon focused shopping.  This is a great example of the newsXpress difference in action and the value of using a core category such as magazines to drive sales elsewhere in the business.

The display at newsXpress Forest Hill looks stunning in person and captures the feel of Twilight in a high traffic area of the business.

New Moon promotion at newsXpress Sarina

sarina_twilight.jpgThe team at newsXpress Sarina has put together a good display supporting the newsXpress new moon movie marketing initiative.  Their front of store display looks stunning – from the A0 poster to the table of new moon merchandise, they are making bold statement.

It would be hard for Twilight fans to go past the products in this display and not stop to shop.

newsXpress has sourced a range of new moon product including calendars, a board game, jewellery and other items.  This is wonderfully augmented by new moon related magazines – of which there are plenty at the moment in our stores.

newsXpress Gympie makes the news

img.jpgCongratulations to Warrick Hocking of newsXpress Gypmie for the coverage in the business pages of the Gympie Times, reporting on his award at newsXpresser of the Year for 2009. The report raises the newsXpress profile and recognises Warrick for his tireless work in promoting newsXpress and all we stand for.

We know that we are only as strong as our members. Warrick’s enthusiasm for and support of our brand is terrific motivation for newsXpress to continue to develop and drive greater success for our members

The article in the Gympie Times further demonstrates the newsXpress difference and why our brand is more important than a more traditional newsagency shingle.

Embracing the Twilight brand

twilight_posters.jpgnewsXpress members in NSW are cleverly using the posters supplied for the Sunday Telegraph tomorrow to promote newsXpress supplied Twilight themed product.  The photo shows a display at the entrance to newsXpress Bondi Eastgate.  They are promoting the new moon board game which many newsXpress stores across the country are selling.

newsXpress has positioned itself to make the most of the considerable promotion around the launch of the new moon movie – through the board game, calendar, gifts and magazines.  We have done this because we understand and value the importance of strong brands.

A merchandise hit for newsXpress

The newsXpress merchandise team loves the success stories they get from newsXpress members. This just in from Sue Neal at newsXpress Ballarat:

In the first day of selling the Lako Digital Key Rings which are part of the newsXpress Christmas offer, we sold 13 units.  These are a product which we did not expect to work in our location.  We originally said no but finally agreed when our newsXpress Business Development Manager explained how he expected they would work for us.  We sold out of the first shipment and urgently sought more stock. Once the extra stock arrived we quickly sold another ten units.  The runaway success of the key rings is that I need to trust more the newsXpress recommendations.

We are thrilled with stories like this as they reinforce the back office processes which focus on sourcing good-margin products for newsXpress members which will be successful in a variety of situations.

Kris Kringle Gifts at newsXpress

nx_kris_kringle.jpgnewsXpress has provided its members with an excellent range of Kris Kringle gifts for the Christmas season this year.  Our merchandise team has carefully selected items for the Krs Kringle gifting opportunity based on thorough market research and assessing what has sold well in previous years.

The Kris Kringle range is in-store now.

The Kris Kringle range and our Christmas gifts are being promoted through newsXpress exclusive catalogues which are being delivered to homes around participating stores over the next week as well as through marketing collateral like this poster.

newsXpress continuously looks for a valuable and rewarding point of difference for our members.  Our approach to Kris Kringle this year is evidence of this commitment in action.  We are hearing from newsXpress members already about the excellent success they are having with some lines.

Kris Kringle is one element of a broader newsXpress Christmas strategy whicl we will cover here in more detail over the coming weeks.

Great Halloween success at Wetherill Park

nx_wetherill_park.jpgThe team at newsXpress Wetherill Park created a stunning display for their first ever engagement with the Halloween season.  The display went up in September and they have sold out of everything, in advance of the big day.

This is an excellent example of using a newsXpress initiative to drive traffic and sales around a good margin story thanks to newsXpress preferred supplier relationships.  newsXpress brings all the elements of a successful campaign together for local action at the store level.

The execution by the team at newsXpress Wetherill Park has been excellent and the results rewarding.

newsXpress and Tattersalls embrace Halloween

nx_tattersalls.JPGThe newsXpress and Tattersalls Halloween marketing collateral work well together in-store – promoting dreams and fun for Halloween this Saturday, October 31.  By connecting newsXpress and Tattersalls in this way, newsXpress locations with Tattersalls are able to gain additional valuable leverage for their Halloween related sales.  Halloween 2009 is a great example of the newsXpress difference at work for our members.

Great 2010 diary marketing for newsXpress

nx_diaries.jpgnewsXpress members are about to receive A1 size collateral for promoting 2010 diaries in-store.

The collateral is being sent without cost to newsXpress members as part of our continuing commitment to helping newsXpress locations professionally merchandise key categories in their businesses.

The diary collateral follows the corporate image theme which is running through all newsXpress seasonal marketing.  This drives a visual consistency across visual merchandising in newsXpress locations and in our consumer marketing – a consistency which demonstrates the strength of disciplines within the group.

Twilight merchandise now (almost) in store

twilight_poster.jpgnewsXpress has prepared collateral for use by its members in promoting the range of Twilight themed products available in-store.  Our marketing campaign ties in with the soon to launch New Moon movie.

The maketing collateral from newsXpress includes an A0 colour poster which announces that merchandise is available in store.

Months ago, the newsXpress merchandise team sourced a range of Twilight related items for members.  This included two items which were new to newsagents and helped us position ourselves alongside the majors in this lucrative market segment.

Twilight is a natural fit for newsagentsgiven that many magazines we sell have Twilight content regularly.

Thanks Pacific Magazines

nx_pacific_ed.JPGPacific Magazines hosted the opening evening of the newsXpress National Conference last night in Melbourne.  A feature was cooking and chatting with “Fast” Ed Halmagyi from the Better Homes and Gardens TV show and author of Better Basics which sold very well in newsXpress locations earlier this year.

Ed is pictured here with Vicki Rossi, Pacific Retail sales and Circulation Director, Jane McIlhatton, Pacific National Merchandising Manager and Jessica Batt, Pacific Trade Marketing Manager.
