Promoting 2011 diaries at newsXpress

newsXpress is doing what every newsagency marketing group should be doing and helping newsagent members promote the 2011 diary range.  In addition to providing access to excellent deals and helping stores with range and in store management advice, we have delivered to every newsXpress store double-sided A2 colour  posters for promoting the diary range:

These posters and and our other 2011 diary support will help newsXpress leverage an excellent 2011 diary season.

Halloween at newsXpress Mortdale

mortdale-halloween.jpgnewsXpress Mortdale has Halloween in a couple of locations in-store, leveraging the season for all it is worth.  This co-location approach makes good use of the available space and the commercial outcome from the stock and space investment.  Given the browsing approach of shoppers, it provides multiple opportunities to convert to Halloween sales.

Halloween lifts the retail store, bringing fun to the browsing experience.  This is one of the reasons we got behind the season years ago.

Halloween at newsXpress Macarthur

macarthur-halloween.JPGnewsXpress Macarthur is another newsXpress store reporting good sales from Halloween this year.  Their window display is attracting customer into the store.  Once inside, there is a good range of scary and fun product from which to choose.

Many newsXpress stores are reporting the need to order additional product following strong early sales.  Halloween is proving to be a longer season than some other newsagency seasons.

This is the first time newsXpress Macarthur has done Halloween and while it is early days customers appear to be loving the new category.

Halloween at newsXpress Caboolture

caboolture-halloween.jpgnewsXpress Caboolture has their terrific Halloween product offer facing customers as they enter the store.  They have a good range of fun products for trick or treating as well as Halloween parties at home.

It is this kind of display which sets newsXpress Caboolture apart from the traditional newsagency and reflects another piece of the newsXpress difference.  We are thrilled that newsXpress members like newsXpress Caboolture embrace opportunities like Halloween and embrace the opportunity of change.

With three weeks to go, Halloween is hotting up and generating some good sales.

Top shelf Halloween items selling well

wg-hal-range.JPGnewsXpress Watergardens is promoting Halloween at several locations in-store.  This display in the photo, click on the image for a larger version, is being promoted in a table which is facing into the main mall.  This table is drawing tremendous attention because of the unique, top shelf, mix of items on sale – they go beyond what shoppers will see in most stores playing in the Halloween space.

As so many other newsXpress members are reporting, Halloween is going off early this year.   New traffic, good margin, excellent sales … a great retail story.

Promoting Halloween garden lights

watergardens-hal-lights.JPGnewsXpress Watergardens is promoting the exclusive to newsXpress Halloween garden lights in what looks like an old chest with fog wafting across and in between the lights.

This is a very effective looking display which is getting shoppers to pick up a light and ask what it is.

Success with Halloween is all about creating retail theatre … and having fun.

newsXpress Kin Kora loving Halloween!

kinkora-halloween-2010-001.jpgnewsXpress Kin Kora is having an amazing Halloween 2010.  Read just how great in their own words:

We ordered up big for Halloween. It wasn’t big enough. I have just placed a top up order for a number of items (the basics, fake blood etc) because I’ve sold out already. I ordered 25% more than last year (more of some units depending on how early I sold through last year). I’m guessing this is because the catalogue has been distributed.

People are spending $20 on average for Halloween. One lady spent $250 on little things.

The picture of my window is not great (neither is the window display because I’ve sold a couple of $150 items out of the window in the last 3 days).

I hope every member gets into Halloween in 2011. We started very little and now it is a major event! I knew 2010 would be big, but re-ordering on the 5th of October means it will be massive!

Click on the photo to see the window display.  It looks terrific even with some key items sold out of the window.

Halloween takes over newsXpress Wetherill Park

wetherill-hall2.JPGFrom the entrance to deep into the store, Halloween has taken over newsXpress Wetherill Park.  Using newsXpress collateral and an excellent mix of Halloween product, the store has been transformed to reflect the fun and excitement of the Halloween season.  Well done to everyone involved in this display!

Halloween voice changers the hit of the season

wg-voicechangers.JPGThe Hallmark Halloween Voice Changers, which are exclusive to newsXpress stores, are generating excellent business again this week.  This clever stand at our newsXpress Watergardens store is a clever merchandising move by Renee.  It looks good, presents the product well and is tactically placed at the counter in a high impulse location.

Once a customer picks up a voice changer you are much closer to getting a sale – hence the importance of placement in-store.  Co-location is recommended including one placement at the counter.

Father’s Day winner announced

The newsXpress Western Australia Father’s Day Book Promotion was a hit for participating stores.  The grand prize of the TV campaign was a trip for 2 to the beautiful Riverglen Chalets, courtesy of Andrew and Tanya at newsXpress Margaret River.

We received hundreds of entries in a very pleasing response and would like to let you know that the winning entry was entered by Rose Young, who purchased the book at newsXpress Bunbury Forum.

Congratulations to all stores who participated in this promotion.

Halloween at newsXpress Gympie

gympie-halloween.JPGHalloween landed in Gympie last week with this terrific in-store display at newsXpress Gympie which reflects the fun and opportunity of the season. Sales have been so strong that the store is having to arrange for more stock.  This is a story being repeated across the newsXpress network.  Well done to everyone at newsXpress Gympie for such a great display.

newsXpress Bairnsdale supporting the Saints

bairnsdale-saints.jpgWhile St Kilda didn’t win the AFL Grand Final replay, the team at newsXpress Bairnsdale got right behind their team with this terrific window display facing out into the main street.   Displays like this draw traffic and comment and separate local businesses from outposts of national chains.  Click the photo for a larger version.

Swill & Quill a success at newsXpress Albany

albany-quill.JPGCongratulations to the team at newsXpress Albany in Western Australia for their staging of their Swill & Quill night.  Here is how they described the high profile event:

Swill & Quill was a 1920’s themed cocktail party we held instore in conjunction with the opening night of the local writers festival. A massive amount of work transformed the bookstore into a truly amazing space filled with heaps of interesting going ons.

Terrific innovation which connected with the community, supported a local cultural event and enhanced the profile of the store.
