With more than $5,000 in cash prizes for newsXpress members and their customers being given away, this is a value-packed promotion which will bring a buzz to newsXpress stores in the lead up to Christmas trading.

Being backed with external marketing designed to drive shoppers to newsXpress stores for the exclusive offer, we are sure to see a bounce in shopper traffic.

Each newsXpress store has been provided excellent collateral by Pacific Magazines with which to promote the exclusive offer.  There is also a coupon for printing on receipts from the Point of Sale system.

Published fresh every month by our marketing team, the newsletter is used by newsXpress members to communicate with account customers, update over the counter retail customers and draw traffic from traffic passing by.

Delivered to newsXpress members in a form which enables easy personalisation, the In Store Offers newsletter promotes products from newsXpress preferred suppliers which are a feature of the season.

Connecting with our TV, in-store radio and other media campaigns, this newsletter is part of an overall national marketing strategy which connects all newsXpress stores.  It demonstrates a consistency of message and focus by newsXpress on behalf of retail and supplier partners.

The newsletter is published to members prior to the end of the month so that it can be sent out with customer accounts.

Books delivered risk free to newsXpress members as part of our Christmas package are already delivering excellent sales.  We have heard from several newsXpress members about excellent early sales of books in the Christmas gift pack  Thi is long before our TV and other advertising has hit.  Looks like another great Christmas for newsXpress members.

Some newsXpress members are chasing extra stock of the Beanie Kids range following early sales of this Christmas item.  One member sold out the day they put the stock out.

The keys for success are building a strong display at the front of the store, promoting the Beanie Kids range.  They’re a well known brand at a competitive price point.

newsXpress to promote Hot Boys of TV from Pacific Magazines

newsXpress stores across Australia are set to promote Hot Boys of TV published by newsXpress Strategic Partner Pacific Magazines from Monday. As the team behind the magazine says…

Hot Boys of TV is packed with perve-worthy posters of popular Home & Away stars that readers will enjoy. This special issue includes an exclusive River Boys flip cover and is on sale for 12 weeks.

The title will be distributed in newsagents and Big W only.  newsXpress stores will have stock and make the most of promoting this title at the front of the shop where impulse purchases are certain to be achieved for us.

Smurf product hit at the newsXpress Pakenham counter

newsXpress Pakenham is another newsXpress members is a Smurf success story.  These Smurf Kinder Surprise items has sold well thanks in part due to the placement at the counter, driving impulse purchases.

This success is mirrored across newsXpress and stores which engaged with the Smurf opportunities and, in particular, the Kinder Surprise opportunity from one of our preferred suppliers.

newsXpress Pakenham is enjoying success with their Lego themed production based on products sourced from newsXpress preferred suppliers.  In the excellent display is a terrific mix of products including the licensed and exclusive to newsXpress Lego boxed Christmas cards.

newsXpress has been promoting brands to newsagents for years, explaining the value long term of brand support compared to the patchy and unreliable business you get from cheap China product.  Sales results back this up.  This is why displays like the newsXpress Pakenham team are doing around the Lego brand are important.  being known as a brand destination connects your business with trust and this will bring shoppers back.

Smurf products hot at newsXpress Riverlink

Smurf products continue to sell very well at newsXpress Riverlink.  The candy mushroom range from one of our newsXpress preferred suppliers is another product from the range which has sold through quickly at the sales counter at newsXpress Riverlink.

With the Smurf movie still playing, it is smart by the Riverlink team to have the Smurf Candy Mushrooms on the counter … making the most of the movie tie in opportunity.

newsXpress members who embraced the Smurf opportunities promoted by the newsXpress merchandise team has been banking excellent results.

Smurf sales success at newsXpress Sorell in Tasmania

newsXpress Sorrell in Tasmania is another newsXpress location which made the most of the Smurf opportunity.

Thanks to excellent buying by our merchandise team, newsXpress members had access to Smurf products in advance of the release of the Smurf movie.  This helped drive traffic and build better shopping baskets.

Toys are proving to be a lucrative category for newsXpress stores.  they fit beautifully with greeting card sales.  They also attract new traffic during school holidays.  Both offer excellent opportunities for driving incremental business.

Tactical placement drives Optus handset sales

newsXpress Maryborough in Victoria has been promoting Optus handsets and Optus SIM packs with this placement of the Optus dump bin on the newsagency shop floor – passed by most shoppers as they head to the sales counter.

By engaging with the Optus in-store promotional opportunity, newsXpress members have unlocked for themselves a 100% increase in Optus recharge margin.

This is another newsXpress margin building opportunity for newsXpress members from our national merchandise team and our friends at Jenlist.

newsXpress corporate stores help with product testing

We are using our newsXpress corporate store at Knox City Shopping Centre to test a new product range which is quite unlike anything seen in a newsagency before.  In addition to trialling this new product, we are also showing off the excellent visual merchandising skills available from the newsXpress team.  Having corporate stores in which our team can play and experiment is important in enhancing the merchandise and other opportunities for newsXpress members.

This latest product range is expected to be available to newsXpress members shortly, following an evaluation of the results from newsXpress Knox.  Watch this space.

Optus mobile phone handsets on offer at newsXpress Upper Edward Street

newsXpress Upper Edward Street is promoting the excellent Optus handset deal at the entrance to the newsagency, making the most of excellent foot traffic already heading to the store as well as attracting new traffic to the store.  In addition to driving handset sales, the newsXpress Upper Edward Street team have locked in 100% bonus commission on Optus recharge as well for the business.  This is an excellent deal for the business, a deal negotiated by newsXpress for all newsXpress members.  Placement of the offer in a high traffic location is key to driving sales success.

Universal Magazines Opens up for newsXpress

We were grateful to Mark Darton, Circulation Director of Universal Magazines, for spending the day with newsXpress members at our New South Wales member’s meeting yesterday.  Mark presented on the newsXpress / Universal relationship and outlined how newsXpress members can make the move of the new commercial opportunity and the new commercial arrangements.

The category insights will be particularly helpful to newsXpress members as they learn of placement opportunities for driving sales.

Mark’s presentation was followed by an open Q&A session with Mark fielding newsXpress member questions along with Dale Smith, Retail Channel Manager for Network Services.  This was the first time a publisher and magazine distributor engaged in such an open forum with members of a newsagency marketing group.

newsXpress looks forward to hosting more sessions like this in the future.

By working together as a group with Jenlist and Optus, newsXpress members are able to leverage the value of our national retail network and through this drive not only the sales of Optus handsets but also sales of and margin from recharge business.

Working together in this way helps further demonstrate the newsXpress difference.

newsXpress at Brisbane GNS Market Fair

nxp-gnsbne.JPGWe have had a terrific time at the GNS Market Fair in Brisbane this past weekend. In addition to meeting plenty of existing newsXpress members, we got to meet with some excellent prospective members.

Supporting the Market Fairs and GNS has been important to us. GNS plays a vital role in the newsagency channel not only because it is owned by newsagents but because it is our key stationery supplier.  Supporting GNS shows we are supporting newsagents.

We will have good news in the coming weeks of newsagents joining newsXpress thanks to our Market Fair participation.
