The team at newsXpress Eli waters has created a terrific display promoting baby products – facing shoppers as they enter the business. newsXpress is about to release its first commercial engagement with QR codes with a special product launch about to hit our retail network. Collateral is being sent with a unique QR code for consumer engagement to drive product enquiry and sales. The unique code will be useable by any QR code reader on iPhones and Android devices … giving newsXpress shoppers an opportunity heighten their experience with our retail channel.

We understand that newsXpress is the first newsagency banner group to use a QR code in this way.

The QR code will be promoted in a number of ways and across multiple consumer engagement platforms.

Perfect timing for Prevention magazine promotion

The latest issue of Prevention has hit the shelves with perfect timing. The middle of Winter is when people start to feel a bit blah and here is a magazine with ideas for better eating and weight loss – all packaged in a friendly and accessible way.

With James Magnussen on the cover and the Olympic theme of the issue, this is an ideal magazine to promote away from the usual location – at the counter, with newspapers or as an aisle-end feature.

In promoting this issue of Men’s Fitness magazine in the lead up to the Olympics, we are expecting incremental sales for the title and greater awareness of our connection in-store with the Olympics.

newsXpress members in Western Australia continue to operate a much-loved and wonderfully successful second chance lottery draw. This drives sales for newsXpress members and helps them increase the rewards for customers who purchase Lotterywest products from newsXpress outlets.

This in-store marketing builds across the newsXpress group and adds value in-store and to Lotterywest. It’s a demonstration of genuine co-operation and partnership. It’s like the traditional second chance draw but on steroids thanks to newsXpress members working together – from organisation to promotion to prize draw.

newsXpress members have reported an excellent end to the 2011/12 financial year with many members sharing year on year sales data showing terrific sales growth in traditional categories and valuable business in new product categories.

Seeing year on year growth of 10% and more is not uncommon in newsXpress businesses.

The success makes us question the doom and gloom of the media and others talking out in the marketplace.

Of particular excitement is the valuable growth being achieved y newsXpress members in product categories the group has been guiding newsXpress members towards. The guidance around categories has helped newsXpress members discover new suppliers and through bonus revenue which is driving business profitability.

newsXpress has been sharing sales data by supplier with newsXpress members is the current round of member meetings. Such transparency is rare among newsagency marketing groups. The newsXpress data includes sales as well as newsXpress corporate margin.

In addition to sharing revenue data, newsXpress is also disclosing how this revenue is being spent on behalf of members.

This and other business performance data becomes invaluable for newsXpress members, demonstrating the value of acting as a group and the rewards of this for all stakeholders.

While some in the channel like to spin about their competitors, newsXpress welcomes the opportunity for strong sales performance numbers to speak for themselves.

2013 One Direction calendar set to drive traffic for newsXpress

As the only retailers with the first allocation of there One Direction 2013 calendar, newsXpress stores are set to benefit from a traffic boost as Directioners hunt down the sure to be popular calendar.

With 1D receiving excellent fresh publicity thanks to their involvement with the X Factor on the Seven Network, interest in the group remains current.

newsXpress supported newsXpress member engagement with the One Direction calendar by providing information about the group along with a pre-order form with which to drive certain business well in advance of the release of the calendar.

This issue of Men’s Health is set to sell well with the games just about to start … hence the top traffic location placement of the title in-store.

Our friends at Pacific Magazines have helped generate retail traffic for us for this issue by sending an email campaign to shoppers promoting our businesses.

They understand that the stronger and more successful our businesses are the more successful they are as a key supplier of top-selling magazine titles.
