Newsagent trade show helps broaden product mix

bnemtg0511b.JPGThe boutique trade show which accompanied yesterday’s one-day newsagent conference hosted by newsXpress in Brisbane generated plenty of interest and activity.   With fourteen suppliers hosting stands and other suppliers with products in gift bags for attendees, the day was a good networking and commercial success.  Importantly, it demonstrated the value of connecting newsXpress members with a broad range of suppliers who offer good margin, points of difference and marketing stories.

Busy Brisbane One-Day Mini Conference

bnemtg0511.JPGThe newsXpress one-day Mini Conference in Brisbane yesterday was a terrific success with the business building presentations well attended and engagement between members, suppliers and the newsXpress team valuable and strong.  The day moved at a cracking pace with plenty of ground covered on a variety of valuable business topics.

Promoting The Sticker Family on the Counter

sticker-counter.JPGnewsXpress stores are continuing to enjoy tremendous success with The Sticker Family range of My Family stickers.  Thanks to a range of collateral including this counter mat as seen at newsXpress Knox, promoting the range at a selection of touch points in-store is key to driving excellent sales.

The newsXpress Knox team has stories of people buying a card or magazine making an impulse decision to get some My Family stickers on impulse when they see the counter mat.  These stickers are an excellent basket builder.

The structured newsXpress approach, leveraging multiple touch points, to The Sticker Family is one of the reasons we have been enjoying such success nationally.

Confirmation, Holy Communion and Baptism gifts at Caboolture

confirmation-caboolture.JPGnewsXpress Caboolture has a wonderful range of Confirmation, Holy Communion and Baptism gifts on display.  Parents, friend and family often find buying for these important occasions can be a challenge.  newsXpress helps its members to connect with these occasions through ranges found among several of our preferred suppliers.

As newsXpress Caboolture and other newsXpress members have found, gifts for Confirmation, Holy Communion and Baptism work well, especially when you have a good range of cards covering the same occasions.

The placement of the stained glass items in the window at Caboolture is ideal – showing off the rich colours.

newsXpress Beechworth Supports Local Author

local-beechworth.JPGnewsXpress Beechworth is supporting a local Author by promoting EXPOSED! by Richard Patterson in their front window and with a terrific display in-store. This is the second book from this author. It’s been out for two weeks and they have already sold 79 copies.

Supporting local authors, groups and the community more widely is important to newsXpress and its members.  We encourage members to engage in the way we can see newsXpress Beechworth engaging with their support of Richard Patterson and promoting his new book.

newsXpress demonstrated its local community support credentials recently with the launch of the most comprehensive Local Area Marketing Toolkit ever created for newsagents.  This newsXpress exclusive toolkit is helping newsXpress members across the country connect with their local communities in unique, creative and valuable ways.

Supporting Red Nose Day

newsXpress is pleased to be supporting  Red Nose Day again, continuing a tradition of several years.  newsXpress locations will be selling Red Nose merchandise and embracing promotional opportunities around the Red Nose awareness campaign for SIDS and Kids.  SIDS and Kids is dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood and to supporting bereaved families.

Beach Display a Hit at Ocean Grove

beach-oceangrove.JPGHow is this for an aisle end display in a newsagency?  Very different.  Fresh.  Attractive.  And selling!  This is a display at newsXpress Ocean Grove, featuring a range of beach themed homewares items from one of our supportive newsXpress preferred suppliers.

While perfect for a seaside newsagency, like newsXpress Ocean grove, this display could work equally well in any newsXpress location.  People will purchase for their beach houses, their friend’s beach houses and to bring a beach theme to their own home – no matter where they are located.

Customers entering a newsagency with this display in place will bee sure to notice it as it is so different, so unlike what one would expect to see in a newsagency.

Well done newsXpress Ocean Grove, great innovation!

Timely magazine display at newsXpress Jamison

magazines-dapto.jpgnewsXpress Jamison has been connecting with the news of the death of Osama Bin Laden with this timely magazine display above newspapers.  It is an attention to magazine covers which is one reason newsXpress Jamison is achieving well above industry average sales growth magazines.

Their double-digit year on year growth is due in part to an attention to magazine covers and tactical placement as a result of opportunities presented by covers.  newsXpress exclusive magazine strategies and tactics are also playing a vital role in leading year on year magazine sales growth at this store.

While magazines face undeniable challenges, newsXpress is helping its members to discover and embrace growth opportunities.

The team at newsXpress Jamison has every right to be thrilled with and proud of their results.  Well done!

Magazine Display of the Week: newsXpress Ballarat

master-chef-display-005.jpgThis display for MasterChef magazine at newsXpress Ballarat is the best magazine display photo we have seen in the last week.

Using props as they have brings the display alive and makes it different to the traditional magazine display using just posters and magazines.

With food titles especially, including food or props has become essential for the display to drive good incremental business for the title being promoted.

Well done newsXpress Ballarat for excelling with yet another great magazine display.

newsXpress selects displays from photos sent in by newsXpress members and photos collected by newsXpress Business Development Managers as they visit with members through the course of the week.

Facebook innovation

The newsXpress Facebook page has been undergoing a facelift (pun intended) to make better use of this social platform.  Details of this innovation and plans for new campaigns around social medial will be presented at our one-day conferences starting next week in Brisbane.

While our Facebook is the most innovative for newsagency marketing groups already, it is set to head into new territory thanks to excellent work being done behind the scenes.

Promoting the My Family Stickers at Woden

sticker-wodencar.jpgThe team at newsXpress Woden is creatively and personally promoting The Sticker Family range of My Family stickers with this display on the back of one of their vehicles.

This is an excellent and low cost way to promote the stickers and to attract those interested to the newsagency.

It is innovation like this which is driving extraordinary sales of My Family stickers across the newsXpress retail network.  Not only has newsXpress negotiated a good deal financially and operationally for access to The Sticker Family products, it backs this with creative and valuable tactics for ensuring the best possible return.

No product deal is good unless you move the product efficiently.

Promoting the newsXpress Magazine Club Card

untitled.jpgnewsXpress Yarram has been promoting the newsXpress Magazine Club Card on one of their windows.  This promotion pitches the newsXpress Yarram competitively against other retailers selling magazines in town and nearby.  It not only demonstrates the value of shopping at newsXpress it drives loyalty from a department which many newsagents struggle with on a day to day basis.

Using newsXpress provided marketing collateral along with creative representation of a range of titles, the window display presents a terrific message to those walking past on the main street of Yarram.

Promoting the newsXpress magazine Club Card is anther way of leveraging a newsXpress point of difference in this time of the year between major retail seasons.

Promoting the newsXpress Phonecard with Newspapers

npxphonecardwg.JPGnewsXpress Watergardens has been promoting the newsXpress Phonecard with this simple yet highly effective display above foreign newspapers.  Foreign newspaper customers are the ideal target customers for the great value newsXpress phonecard.

The display includes rates and other information to help customers quickly understand the value of the newsXpress Phonecard.

Launched over a year ago, the newsXpress Phonecard is a hit not only with customers who call overseas but also with those who make interstate calls.  The 25 cent untimed local call rate makes the phonecard a high-value product for many customers.

The newsXpress Phonecard is another example of why shopping at newsXpress is good value for our customers.

The newsXpress Phonecard is also another example of a good margin product brought to newsXpress members by the group and backing this with strategies and tactics for engaging so that the best return can be achieved from the opportunity.

Integrating Gifts with Greeting Cards

leongatha-gifts.JPGIn a significant shop fit change, newsXpress Leongatha has integrated gifts with greeting cards, connecting gift buying with the card purchase.

This is an innovative move, a break from the traditional approach to card retailing one sees in newsagencies. Well done to the team at Leongatha for making the move and also for the selection of gift to card adjacencies.

newsXpress has seen this integration done in some other newsXpress locations with tremendous success. More are sure to follow.

Terrific Success With New Idea Royal Wedding Special

newidea-royalwedding.jpgThanks to wonderful support from Pacific Magazines, newsXpress members are enjoying access to additional stock of the New Idea Royal Wedding Special.  This enables our stores to acheve their full potential of sales of this wonderful title.  By sharing sales data and co-ordinating top-up stock, newsXpress and Pacific have worked together to help drive sales for the benefit of all stakeholders.

newsXpress respects the important role that magazines play in the performance of newsagencies today and for the medium term.  We have a well developed and considered exclusive magazine management and growth strategy with elements which work in a broad range of retail situations.

Driving Optus handset sales at newsXpress Caboolture

optus-caboolture.JPGnewsXpress Caboolture has been offering a range of Optus handsets and other products from this display unit placed in the window and located next to their lottery bench.  Location is key to driving success from mobile phone product cabinets such as this.

Sourced through newsXpress preferred supplier Jenlist, this display unit and the associated ranging and placement advice is another example of the newsXpress preferred supplier relationship working for the value of newsXpress members.

The Jenlist team works with newsXpress members to finesse range and ensure the best possible return on the space, inventory and time investment.

The newsXpress Business Development Manager team shares stories and experiences about innovation such as this range from Jenlist as it visits with members.
