newsXpress Supports R U OK? Day with Fundraising and Other Activities
With R U OK? day now passed, an annual day of action aimed at preventing suicide. This year, newsXpress joined forces with Henderson Greetings and R U OK? to help promote the day and raise funds for the cause. Here’s a look at some of the activities we took part in.
To help raise awareness of R U OK? day, we placed collection tins in all our stores. We also sold R U OK? pins and wristbands, with all proceeds going to the charity. In addition, we held a bake sale at our head office, with all proceeds going to R U OK?. We’re proud to have raised over $500 for the cause!
In addition to fundraising, we also promoted the R U OK? message through in-store activities and displays. We encouraged our customers to have conversations with loved ones about mental health and wellbeing, and provided information on where to get help if they or someone they know is struggling. It’s so important that we start these conversations—after all, one conversation can change a life.
R U OK? days provide an important opportunity for us to check in with loved ones and see how they’re really doing. This year, newsXpress is proud to have supported the day through fundraising and awareness-raising activities in all our stores. Let’s continue the conversation all year round and remember that one conversation can change a life.
Mental health is something that touches all of us in one way or another, which is why initiatives like R U OK? day are so important. Here at newsXpress, we’re proud to be supporting the cause once again this year and we hope that our efforts will help make a difference in our local communities. If you’re ever feeling like you need someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of our team members—we’re always happy to chat.
newsXpress businesses are local, and community connected. We engage with our customers and folks in the community in many ways, including listening. We help as we are able and appreciate community support that enables us to do this.

newsXpress supports NSW / QLD flood relief
newsXpress last month donated $1,000 to the official Red Cross NSW / QLD flood relief appeal.
Donations to the QLD and NSW Floods Appeal will help Red Cross to provide vital humanitarian support to the people and communities affected by the floods. Based on ongoing needs assessment in Queensland and NSW and amount raised, that support may include:
- Enabling volunteers and staff to help with evacuations, relief centres and outreach service
- Supporting people and communities to recover and to build resilience to disasters
