newsXpress Bathurst benefits from packaging changes

bathurst-packaging.jpgnewsXpress Bathurst is one of a number of newsXpress stores to benefit from changes to the gift packaging area of the business.  By creating a more compelling and appealing story, newsXpress Bathurst is able to drive sales – benefiting the business and the preferred supplier relationship with Hallmark Cards.

With a terrific gift range in-store, having a good gift packaging range is a natural fit for newsXpress Bathurst, it drives basket size and enhances customer satisfaction.

newsXpress Mortdale benefits from layout changes

mortdale-relay.jpgnewsXpress Mortdale has undergone a transformation under the guidance of newsXpress NSW Business Development Managers Roger and Lesley Bortfield.   By moving existing fixtures and adjusting the display of stock, the result is better flow serving cards and magazines. The cards being a higher margin product have a greater prominence as you enter the store and the layout now encourages the magazine shopper to browse further into the store.

Store layout and relay is part of the newsXpress difference for without a smart outcome-focussed layout no amount to new stock will deliver the returns newsagents need.

Cracker book sale for newsXpress stores!

roselands-booksale.jpgnewsXpress Roselands had a cracker of a book sale like so many newsXpress stores over the last few weeks.  Excellent new traffic for an excellent margin product – thanks to newsXpress preferred supplier arrangements.  The outpost at the Roselands Shopping Centre was packed with book bargians, generating ecellent sales and promoting the newsXpress store nearby.

From shopping centre based businesses to smaller rural newsXpress stores, the latest Book Sale has been a tremendous success for newsXpress and its members.

Retail impulse purchase strategy achieves 25% success rate

Talk to any marketing expert and they will tell you that a success rate of 25% for a direct mail, telemarketing or other marketing campaign in any business is almost unheard of.

Talk to retail marketing experts and they will tell you than achieving a 25% engagement rate from an over the counter offer is extraordinary. This is many times over the success rate for over the counter up-sell promotions in petrol and convenience outlets.

newsXpress is proud to have launched to its members last month a well considered over the counter marketing strategy which resulted in a 25% success rate in one of the first stores engaging.

By carefully monitoring the number of offers made to customers and tracking the results of the offers, the newsXpress business has been able to quantify the value of the newsXpress promotion to their business.

newsXpress has supported the exclusive marketing initiative with implementation advice and branded collateral to support the over the counter offer and track the fulfilment success.

There is a considerable difference between newsagency marketing and franchise groups. newsXpress continues to innovate at all levels of the business, delivering excellent business growth opportunities.

HOT ink! numbers for newsXpress

newsXpress members are reporting excellent sales numbers for the latest HOT ink! campaign.  With this latest promotion about to end, many are ready for our local ink initiative to kick in.

This is a newsXpress exclusive initiative designed to give our retail network the edge over others who run several campaigns a year.

By running campaigns between national promotions and providing newsXpress members with valuable tools for promoting this local campaign, we are helping newsXpress members lead the field in the ink and toner space.

$1,500 bonus for newsXpress member

Thanks to preferred supplier arrangements, newsXpress members have access to valuable rebates from key suppliers.  One national brand ink supplier rewards members with highly valued gift cards in return for loyalty.

One newsXpress member yesterday received $1,500 in gift vouchers for trading in the last year.  This is on top of highly competitive prices for the stock items purchased and valuable reward points accrued through the newsXpress wholesaler.  Three points of significant value from a professionally negotiated and management newsXpress preferred supplier relationship.

So, not only has this newsXpress member accessed highly competitive pricing, they received a bonus in the form of gift vouchers which will take care of plenty of Christmas and birthday shopping.

The member was thrilled at the unexpected $1,500 bonus and called newsXpress to celebrate.

newsXpress has plenty of other members reaping these rewards.

sunbury-hallmark.jpgAs a strategic partner, Hallmark works closely with newsXpress on a range of fronts.

The branding undertaken at newsXpress Sunbury Square in Victoria is a good example.  With windows to cover, Hallmark was quick to provide professional collateral which supported their brand and helped create the message enticing customers into the terrific retail experience.

The result at newsXpress Sunbury Square is another example of a commercially beneficial relationship between newsXpress and Hallmark.

glendale-books.JPGThe team at newsXpress Glendale is making good use of their flexible fistures with this display for their latest newsXpress Book Sale.  Attracting shoppers as they pass by the store and driving sales to existing shoppers, this stand is an important part of the success at newsXpress Glendale.

The range of books from our preferred book supplier, ABW, is excellent as usual.  newsXpress members like Glendale are enjoying terrific business.

World Cup support in Bairnsdale

newsXpress provided all newsXpress members with free double-sided A2 posters and access to supporter material from a preferred supplier.

The result was a cracker World Cup for our stores, especially those who embraced it as they did at newsXpress Bairnsdale.

newsXpress can help in Buying a Newsagency

Buying a Newsagency can be an opportunity to increase your capital wealth over time. Newsagencies, run well, are good businesses to own and operate. They respond well to hard work and good management.

It is important to remember that when buying a Newsagency it is not always a license to print money. Your chances of success will be better if you do some research into the industry first to get a feel for the problems you might encounter as a business owner.

The business has more chance of success the more it matches your interests and business strengths.

To be a successful Newsagent, you must be 100% committed. Anything less and you will significantly reduce your chances of success. You have to ask yourself is a Newsagency the best solution and will be suitable for me and my lifestyle.

Consider your own level of knowledge and interest along with having the skills, experience, time, resources, vision and commitment to make the Newsagency a success.
This is where newsXpress can help.  Our team of Business development Managers work with newsXpress members, in store, to build stronger, more efficient and more profitable newsagencies.  This is the newsXpress difference.
Newsagencies can be very demanding with long hours. While it may provide independence and the opportunity to earn more money, you must also consider that it can place a lot of pressure on you personally, family, friends. It can affect your relationships and lifestyle. You will also have to be in good physical condition especially if you are purchasing one with a paper run and you plan to do the deliveries yourself.
newsXpress can help with back office processes, front of store processes and marketing to help attract new customers.

Before you start looking at a newsagency to buy, consider whether you are ready for this decision yourself. Are you up for the hard work? Are you physically able? Do you have the financial and emotional capacity? Do you enjoy retail? Are you motivated to make a real difference in a business? Do you know the type of Newsagency you are looking for?

To find out more about how newsXpress can help you in buying a newsagency, please contact Ben Kay, newsXpress General Manager, on 0419 678 754.

Four new preferred suppliers for newsXpress members

The merchandise team at newsXpress has been busy negotiating excellent deals for newsXpress members with four new suppliers announced in the last week.

The details of the new suppliers, their offers and trading terms have been communicated to newsXpress members.  We will not be publishing details here since the information is commercially sensitive to newsXpress members.

The new products on offer extend the range available in our stores and in newsagencies more generally.  One supplier in particular opens what will be a new category for many newsagents.

newsXpress focus group discusses Christmas

We hosted an online focus group of selected members last week to discuss our plans for Christmas.  During the session a range of products were shown and feedback solicited.  By using online meeting technology, newsXpress is able to pull on the advice and knowledge of newsXpress members from around the country.  The result will be a Christmas offer based on significant member input.

Helping to raise funds for breast cancer research

newsXpress received a wonderful note from Annette Sym, author of the Symply Too Good cookbooks, thanking us for our support of her efforts to raise money for breast cancer reseatch.

Here is what Annette had to say:

Thank you and NewsXpress so much for providing us with your fabulous NewsXpress black enviro bags, caps and water bottles for our Symply Food, Symply Fit, Symply Pink breast cancer fundraising event on the 22nd June 2010. The first 100 people who booked to attend our event received their wonderful gift bags on the night, which contained a fantastic array of donated goodies including your caps and water bottles, and we could see that everyone was absolutely thrilled to receive them. We were also able to auction one of the gift bags on the night, which generated further fundraising. Thank you for being so generous and helping to make it such a special night – we greatly appreciate it – and a big thank you from Annette for all your support.

Please find attached our Sponsor’s Thank You page which was given to all 200 attendees, as well as being shown on our large presentation screen during the night.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that the fundraising goal set out in December 2009 has officially been reached! Due to all the amazing people who volunteered their help, time and resources we have raised over $10,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. As you are aware our first event, held in February 2010, was the Train Like a Girl Breast Cancer Challenge and then last week, Symply Food, Symply Fit, Symply Pink! The two events combined have raised a total of:

$10, 510.50 !!!

Without the spirit and generosity of our community, this goal would never have been achieved.

Finally, on behalf of Jen’s sister Michelle and family – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

Thank you for helping us to make a difference
