SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS

This week we had another state meeting in Sydney for our NSW/ACT proprietors. It was probably the best one we have had.

Wayne from Hallmark showed how we are getting massive growth in the NSW/ACT region in Hallmark product. Then it was over to future strategy and business development for the rest of the session. It culminated in a store visit to newsXpress Roselands to see one of newsXpress networks shining lights. A great day had by all!

newsXpress MARKET FAIRS

newsXpress is holding its very first market fairs this year. There will be four held in total: Sydney, 17th June; Melbourne, 24th June; Queensland, 26th June; & Perth, 3rd July. Select suppliers and service providers have been invited.

As newsXpress is all about its members, the only charge levied on suppliers is splitting the cost of the hire of the venue. In doing that newsXpress can help suppliers deliver the lowest possible prices to its members which would otherwise be passed on by keeping costs to a minimum. This is exclusive to newsXpress members.

LETS SEE HOW FAR WE’VE COME

The photo says it all Graham Randall & foundation CEO Kerri Shanks (now Stockwell) at the launch of newsXpress at the GNS Trade Fair September 2001.

It’s a credit to the foundation team for what they did to get the brand moving in South-East Queensland. Their hard work paved the way for the 140 plus store national network that has blossomed in the past 7 years in all states and territories of Australia.

Anzac Day – Lest we forget

Supporting minor seasons can help you better connect with your local community and newsXpress continues to present these marketing opportunities as an additional point of difference to their members.

Despite the fact this horrific battle took place more than 90 years ago it still lives on strongly in our society today. Over 11,000 brave Australians and New Zealanders, many of them only young teenagers were killed during the fighting but with their loss Australia grew a new pride and gained their identity.

As a nation only 14 years old being confronted with the terrors of war, the spirit our forefathers showed during this struggle is still apparent in all of us today.

newsXpress celebrates and commemorates the deeds of those who sacrificed their lives this Friday and provides several marketing tips and posters to create a greater connection with their community.

Lest we forget…

The newsXpress exclusive Canson Creative Centre was featured prominently in the current National Newsagent Magazine with this eye-catching creative.

With over 70 newsXpress members now on board and more to come this is an example of a strong win-win relationship between supplier and retailer.

Bringing the specialist and niche art category to a wide market is a long term goal and this in-store solution is a strong positive towards achieving this objective.

newsXpress entrepreneurs feature in BRW

newsXpress is featured heavily in this month’s BRW in an article celebrating the renaissance of the newsagency industry on the back of a growing influx of entrepreneurs.

Mark Fletcher, director and owner of two newsXpress stores (as well as a share in the newsXpress corporate store at Watergardens with directors Graham Randall & Mark Nagy) re-iterates throughout the article his belief that newsagents must become business oriented to survive and thrive in the current environment. He continued that Newsagents must embrace trends in the wider retail space such as growing technology sales in the stationery category and use this information to capitalise on proven traffic generators such as newspapers, lotto and greeting cards.

Also featured is newsXpress Toowong owner Paul Martin. Being situated in a busy and competitive shopping centre in Brisbane, Paul relishes the challenge to expand his business and pro actively analyses data and consumer trends to stay ahead of the pack.
