Sunbury people love Halloween at newsXpress
newsXpress Sunbury is tracking excellent business from its front window Halloween display. As they note of their Facebook page: Halloween is near…it’s frightfully busy, dangerously fun, and we won’t cope with a skeleton staff. Using Facebook as well as traditional marketing to promote Halloween reinforces another point of difference in newsXpress stores for this valuable and enjoyable season.
If you live or shop in Sunbury, get the newsXpress Sunbury and have yourself a scary and fun time with Halloween.
Fun Halloween headbands from Gund
The Gund Halloween headbands are a nice point of difference to the mix of products for Halloween on offer to newsXpress stores. While other retailers doing Halloween focus on the basics of broomsticks and witches hats, newsXpress has sought out a broad range of items, like these light up headbands, to go beyond the traditional.
The ever expanding depth of our Halloween range is a testament to the commitment of newsXpress to helping members grow their businesses.

Halloween at newsXpress Mortdale
newsXpress Mortdale has Halloween in a couple of locations in-store, leveraging the season for all it is worth. This co-location approach makes good use of the available space and the commercial outcome from the stock and space investment. Given the browsing approach of shoppers, it provides multiple opportunities to convert to Halloween sales.
Halloween lifts the retail store, bringing fun to the browsing experience. This is one of the reasons we got behind the season years ago.
Halloween at newsXpress Macarthur

Many newsXpress stores are reporting the need to order additional product following strong early sales. Halloween is proving to be a longer season than some other newsagency seasons.
This is the first time newsXpress Macarthur has done Halloween and while it is early days customers appear to be loving the new category.

Top shelf Halloween items selling well
newsXpress Watergardens is promoting Halloween at several locations in-store. This display in the photo, click on the image for a larger version, is being promoted in a table which is facing into the main mall. This table is drawing tremendous attention because of the unique, top shelf, mix of items on sale – they go beyond what shoppers will see in most stores playing in the Halloween space.
As so many other newsXpress members are reporting, Halloween is going off early this year. New traffic, good margin, excellent sales … a great retail story.
Back to School orders closing in four days
Our newsXpress Back to School auxiliary orders close on October 11, 2010. These items are supplementary to the core back to School items our stores will carry. We have had good success with our auxiliary BTS items in recent years and our team is working on 2011 repeating this success.
Promoting Halloween garden lights
newsXpress Watergardens is promoting the exclusive to newsXpress Halloween garden lights in what looks like an old chest with fog wafting across and in between the lights.
This is a very effective looking display which is getting shoppers to pick up a light and ask what it is.
Success with Halloween is all about creating retail theatre … and having fun.
Halloween at newsXpress Manly West
newsXpress Manly West has setup a terrific display for Halloween 2010 featuring an excellent range of fun Halloween items from broomsticks to candy buckets to a selection of scary (but fun) items.
Supported by newsXpress Halloween marketing collateral, the display is a terrific promotion for the season.
newsXpress Kin Kora loving Halloween!
newsXpress Kin Kora is having an amazing Halloween 2010. Read just how great in their own words:
We ordered up big for Halloween. It wasn’t big enough. I have just placed a top up order for a number of items (the basics, fake blood etc) because I’ve sold out already. I ordered 25% more than last year (more of some units depending on how early I sold through last year). I’m guessing this is because the catalogue has been distributed.
People are spending $20 on average for Halloween. One lady spent $250 on little things.
The picture of my window is not great (neither is the window display because I’ve sold a couple of $150 items out of the window in the last 3 days).
I hope every member gets into Halloween in 2011. We started very little and now it is a major event! I knew 2010 would be big, but re-ordering on the 5th of October means it will be massive!
Click on the photo to see the window display. It looks terrific even with some key items sold out of the window.
Halloween takes over newsXpress Wetherill Park

Halloween voice changers the hit of the season
The Hallmark Halloween Voice Changers, which are exclusive to newsXpress stores, are generating excellent business again this week. This clever stand at our newsXpress Watergardens store is a clever merchandising move by Renee. It looks good, presents the product well and is tactically placed at the counter in a high impulse location.
Once a customer picks up a voice changer you are much closer to getting a sale – hence the importance of placement in-store. Co-location is recommended including one placement at the counter.

Congratulations to all stores who participated in this promotion.
