Christmas sale at newsXpress

img_0096.JPGThe team at our newsXpress corporate store at Watergardens has created a bold Christmas sale display right at the front of the shop.  The display featured items from several of the newsXpress Christmas offers including art, puzzle, gift and other categories.  It includes several newsXpress exclusive lines.     The display has been placed on the lease line facing directly into the mall and is drawing new visitors to our shop.

Our Watergardens store was opened mid 2007 and is used by newsXpress as a place where we experiment with new retail concepts and product categories.  We work closely with suppliers in pursuit of new opportunities exclusively for newsXpress newsagents.

From time to time we arrange tours of the business. If you would like to go behind the scenes on newsXpress Watergardens please let us know.

Painting together

dsc04218.JPGTo celebrate Inaugural newsXpress Conference on the Gold Coast this week and the 30th anniversary of Better Homes and Gardens, the folks at Pacific Magazines invited conference attendees to share in painting something for the wall of the newsXpress Head Office. The photo captures Shelley Petersen of newsXpress Sarina with brush in hand  adding her touch to the painting.   Some of us less skilled at painting than Shelley were thankful that there were lines to guide our painting.

This was a fun activity from Pacific Magazines for the trade show part of the two day conference.

Creating an ‘ART’ destination at newsXpress Beechworth

The photos below illustrate perfectly the window display at newsXpress Beechworth for the first Canson Create ART promotion. This window merchandising has been fantastic as it has highlighted the new range to their customers who are overall an artistic community.

Customers have expressed to Tracy in the store that they cannot get the beginner pads (watercolour, Canvas etc) cheaper anywhere else. Word of mouth and the letterbox drop of the catalogues around town should get this information around very quickly.

Success with concurrent promotions

Manni Ribeiro is an enthusiastic newsXpress proprietor. Eumundi is a small market and to excel in a retail business you need to show energy, a point of difference and an ability to adapt to changing needs and tastes.

The following photos show Manni’s store with three concurrent promotions. While some might say this can detract from each event, others will point out that he is trying to maximise exposure and interest in three very different categories. This can not only generate new sales but also encourage multiple purchases across his entire range.

Photos depict the following promotions:

  • ABW Mid-Year Book Promotion
  • Create ART Mid-Year Promotion
  • Care & Friendship Month

Creating some noise with ‘Create ART’

With the event designed to coincide with school holidays and a high quality marketing flyer distributed to homes in their local market, this newsXpress store was certain to see some very positive results for this ‘new money’ category.

The relay not only created enough space to accommodate the entire Creative Centre but also provided the room to introduce a new promotional area near the front entrance for seasonal gifts.

John & Sally Stein are getting new glass shelving and slat-wall fitted immediately and hope to sell much more high margin items as a result of this refit.

WOW… THE KIDS CLINIC WAS A RIPPER!!!!!

The first ever newsXpress Kids Clinic which is supported exclusively by Canson & Pentel was conducted at Watergardens Town Center in Taylors lakes. It was an absolute Ripper! Store theatre is a key to cultivating new business and and tapping into the younger generation provides a “new money” revenue stream and cultivates future customers.

Hundreds of kids walked away with Hallmark balloons, newsXpress red bags and their drawing on canson carboard done with pentel pens. A number of kids had their faces painted, got a Pentel T-shirt or bag and had a balloon made for them by the clown.

We will start rolling these out county-wide ASAP and they will work in all store locations!

ALWAYS CHASING GROWTH

newsXpress Castle Towers is never satisfied with their presentation and have completely rebuilt their back wall with great products from Canson Colour, Canson Creative Centre, hiPP, Christina Re, Hallmark, and Ink & Toner.

They have completely changed the front of store as well with small displays on specially built units which allow the passer-by to look further into the shop and maybe be drawn to something not previously seen. This significantly increases the available front of store space so highly sought by suppliers.
