A great deal from newsXpress – digital photo keyrings a hit

The digital photo keyrings we have in our exclusive Merry Giftmas catalogue are proving to be a huge hit in newsXpress locations across Australia.  Competing with the likes of Harvey Norman, newsXpress members are reporting sell outs two and three times over.  Thousands of sales attest to the success of this product and further prove the value of a professional merchandise team negotiating great group deals.

While some photo keyring sales are as a result of the catalogues delivered to homes around newsXpress locations, other sales are on impulse by shoppers in store for another purpose.

The newsXpress visual merchandising strategies have helped make these photo keyrings a tremendous success for our members and for our partner supplier.

The other aspect of the photo keyring success is that it is further evidence of our success in focusing on brands and using the buying power of our national group to show that we are competitive retailers.  This is a goal of newsXpress, to position our offer differently to traditional newsagencies which are not known for being price competitive or as brand focused.

newsXpress is proud to be innovating for its members and helping deliver a better Christmas season.

newsXpress launches Back to Work campaign

newsXpress has created a new campaign for the newsagency, Back to Work.  This will launch to consumers in January toward the end of our 2010 Back to School campaign.  Back to Work is built around trusted brands across several key product categories.  A key driver for the campaign will be the competition which offers a Toyota Yaris to one lucky newsXpress customer.  newsXpress is grateful to the support of suppliers, Toyota and its members for enabling us to deliver such an excellent prize for this truly innovative new season.

This is the newsXpress difference.  New marketing opportunities around quality branded product delivered in store for competitive prices.  If newsagents want deals they should consider newsXpress – the complete package deal of Back to Work (good product, good prices, out of store marketing and an excellent national prize) makes for a compelling story for newsagents wanting to build their business.

Our Back to Work offers will also be supported on newsXpress Radio, our own live in store radio network, as well as though a letterbox campaign to homes and offers around all participating newsXpress stores.

Back to School book deals from newsXpress

newsXpress has launched several excellent margin Back to School book deals for members.  Books are a good basket building category for Back to School traffic and the newsXpress offer provides our menbers with a strategy for making Back to School business more profitable.  Several products in the offer will be advertised on radio and newsXpress will be tagged on the commercials.

Professional pricing templates from newsXpress

untitled.jpgnewsXpress makes it easy for its members to professionally signpost hero offers in-store.  As the photo shows, a professional A4 sign looks much better than hand written signs or no signs at all which one often sees in independent retailers.  Our goal at newsXpress is to help our members compete not only on range and price with the majors but also on visual merchandising and in-store communication.  The price indicator in the photo is the newsXpress standard and another example of the newsXpress difference at work.  newsXpress members are able to produce these locally.

Books drive Christmas traffic for newsXpress stores

merry-giftmas-books.jpgThe books in our Merry Giftmas catalogue are driving new traffic to participating newsXpress locations across the country. The book titles have been well selected. They include ideal Christmas gifts for family and friends as well as low-cost stocking fillers and even good Kris Kringle gifts.

Customers love the book selection. They often visit holding the newsXpress catalogue they received in the mail and the books they want circled.

Basket data indicates that these book-loving customers are buying other items while in-store. This is another newsXpress win win for our members: more traffic thanks to a great catalogue, good sales and deeper baskets thanks to a compelling product offer. Better margin overall thanks to the newsXpress negotiated book deal.

More traffic, more sales per customer, better margin – this is what newsXpress is delivering to its members this Christmas.

Great success with digital photo keyring

nx_photo_frame.JPGnewsXpress members are reporting excellent sales from the Digital Photo Keyring which is one of the hero products in our Merry Giftmas catalogue.  We have stores reporting customers coming in looking for the keyring after receiving the catalogue.  Others are driving good impulse purchases with the professional collateral provided by newsXpress.  Major retailers like Harvey Norman have this Keyring.  We beat them on price and service.  This is another terrific new traffic and margin per sale success story from the newsXpress merchandise team.

Christmas at newsXpress Nambour

newsxpress-nambour-christmas-dec09_3.jpgThe team at newsXpress Nambour in Queensland is embracing Christmas and our newsXpress Merry Giftmas promotion with good in-store displays.  The photo shoes their stocking fillers display – this is a great idea, guiding customers what to buy.  This type of visual merchandising is how we like to see the newsXpress marketing collateral and product opportunities used.

What makes the display work especially well is that it is in a good location and is easy to see.  Successful retailers execute good visual merchandising which is visually compelling, offers value and is easy to shop off.  The team at newsXpress Nambour has achieved this.

new moon merchandise in Glendale

img_0016.JPGnewsXpress Glendale is having good success with new moon merchandise sourced through newsXpress preferred suppliers.  The new moon branded calendars, board game, jewellery, posters and trinkets are all selling from the great in-store display.  Even a week after the new Twilight movie opened, new moon merchandise is popular.

The newsXpress merchandise team started work on new moon products many months ago and the latest sales data suggests that their efforts are paying off for newsXpress members.

newsXpress campaign drives traffic

giftmas_catalogue.JPGThe Merry Giftmas campaign launched by newsXpress several weeks ago is driving incremental traffic to participating locations.

We are receiving reports from newsXpress members telling us of new customers coming in with the items they want circled in our catalogue – making for easy sales.

The books in the catalogue are very popular as are the digital photo frames, Twilight merchandise and a range of Kris Kringle gifts.

The catalogue has been sent to thousands of homes around each participating store.

This type of external marketing based around compelling branded offers is key to building traffic, driving brand recognition and extending the efficiency of the shopping basket.  It is another way newsXpress is differentiating its retail channel.

‘Fast’ Ed cooks for newsXpress Mackay

006.jpgnewsXpress Village Mackay, part of the Pacific Magazines Top 500 club, achieved the biggest sales uplift for the June, July and August 09 issues of Better Homes and Gardens.  Their prize was a dinner for themselves and ten friends prepared by ‘Fast’ Ed Halmagi from the Better Homes and Gardens TV show.

Troy and Gillian Ross ought to be very proud of their achievements.  The Daily Mercury in Mackay published a story and photo about their win yesterday – giving their business even more exposure.  It is great celebrating success such as this!

Their sales uplift achieved by newsXpress Village Mackay, off the back of already excellent sales, was achieved through proactive in-store engagement with the title as well as newsXpress marketing initiatives.

Professional newsletter from newsXpress

nx_newsletter_december.jpgnewsXpress has made available another professional newsletter for its members to customise and print locally.  The December INSTORE OFFERS newsletter promotes Hallmark Christmas sound cards, the new moon board game, Scotch gift paper cutters, our digital photo key ring special offer, Christmas magazine gift packs and our excellent 2010 calendar range.

The newslatter is truly innovative in the newsagency channel in that it represents the professionalism and buying power of a national group with the local connection of personalised store details.

Placed out the front of newsXpress locations, this newsletter is helping newsXpress members drive traffic and sales.  We have received excellent feedback of how the newsletter is working well on these fronts.

This INSTORE OFFERS newsletter is another example of newsXpress innovation.  It is provided to our members free each month.

Dressing for Back to School

nx_bts_dec09_price.JPGIn addition to providing marekting brochures for newsXpress locations which want to promote Back to School this side of Christmas, we have also provided material for use in-store to promote the prices of the brand name product.

The professionally produced shelf talkers visually connect with the brochures and other material, they complete the story which is newsXpress back to School 2010.

Our team has taken care to show the brands supporting us and which our stores support in this campaign.

Our Back to School campaign is designed to compliment the GNS back to School campaign

Sorted by hiPP in more newsXpress locations

frank_sorted.JPGMore newsXpress locations are installing the Sorted range from hiPP.  There are three planogram sizes for this excellent home office / organisation product.  As the photo from one of our stores shows, the planogram looks professional and neatly fits a good range of product.

We like the Sorted range because it takes us into new product categories – yes, this range is about more than one product category.  Sorted  broadens the appeal of newsXpress locations and gives existing customers more products with which to extend their shopping.  This is a great basket efficiency story.

newsXpress is pleased to have introduced the Sorted range to the newsagency channel.

newsXpress Maryborough (VIC) merchandises well

rimg0223.JPGnewsXpress Maryborough in Victoria is using the newsXpress supplied 2010 calendar and Merry Giftmas posters to dress the store and promote these two newsXpress exclusive offers.  The result is a bright and enticing in-store story.

By embracing the newsXpress collateral, newsXpress Maryborough is able to present a professional and exciting pitch for categories which most newsagents treat in a more traditional way.  The result is shown in sales.

We have stores in the city and country towns, in big shopping malls and tiny high street situations using our Christmas and calendar marketing collateral with great effect.

newsXpress Eli Waters at the new moon opening

nx_eliwaters_tw.JPGnewsXpress Eli Waters was invited by their nearby cinema to operate a Twilight merchandise business in the cinemas as part of their opening celebrations for the new moon movie last week. The display of newsXpress sourced merchandise generated good sales on the night and follow up sales in the shop days later. The initiative was reported on TV with Alan from newsXpress Eli Waters featuring in the story.

Initiative like this is great for newsXpress members and for our brand nationally.

newsXpress Singleton Heights’ award honoured

647181.jpgThe Singleton Argus has a good story in the latest issue about newsXpress Singleton Heights being announced co-winner of the newsXpress Retailer of the Year Award at our National Conference in Melbourne last month.  In the article, Jarryd Moore, co-manager of the business, credited the team and explains what drives them evolve the business:

Our staff have been keeping up with the trends and without their willingness to embrace the new things we take on board, we could not deliver such a terrific customer service.

With such a large number of competitors, and not just newsagencies but other stationary suppliers, we have to maintain good prices and cater for everyone.

It’s about changing things up, introducing new things and trying things even if they sound a bit out there to begin with.

newsXpress presents many opportunities for members to drive better traffic and better margin in their businesses.  Those who embrace these opportunities are doing very well in building healthier businesses.  They show the newsXpress difference at work.

O’BON planogram at newsXpress Leongatha

nx_leongatha_obon.JPGnewsXpress Leongatha has launched the environmentally friendly O’BON range. Following the newsXpress recommended planogram, they have an excellent range of sugar cane pulp journals and folders as well as pencils made from recycled newspapers. Through the O’BON planogram, newsXpress Leongatha is promoting a good environmental story, educating consumers, demonstrating a point of difference and driving good business as a result.

Early Back To School campaign

dsc00437.JPGnewsXpress gives its members the option of when they want their Back To School campaign kicks in. For some, that is about now. This is why we have provided back To School brochures and other collateral to these members. They are chasing orders for the 2010 year prior to the end of this year. Our Back To School catalogue continues the newsXpress commitment to brands with UHU, O’BON, Maped, Artline, uni, Post-it, Canson, Pentel and Crayola all well represented.

The newsXpress Back To School catalogue also offers twilight themed product – because we recognise that school is not all about work and no play.
